Word Cloud Generator

The text is split into words, common "stop words" are removed, and the remaining words are counted. Font size scales with the square root of each word's frequency, which keeps very common words from completely dominating the picture.

Words are placed on an expanding spiral from the center outward; each candidate position is tested against everything already drawn, and the first free spot wins. Roughly a third of the words are rotated vertically for the classic word-cloud look.

Use it for visualizing survey answers, essays, meeting notes, song lyrics, or a year of chat messages. The result downloads as a PNG you can drop into slides or posts.
